The paper compares the results obtained from calculations based on analytical dependence and on modelling. A comparison with the experimental parameters obtained at the mill is given. The authors assess the feasibility of using the known formulas and analyse the impact of the front and rear tensions on the power parameters of rolling mill.
Equations are derived for the normal roll pressure, specific roll load and torque in hot rolling mills, using the condition for plastic deformation in rolling derived by Orowan, together with von Kármán's equation of equilibrium.
The rolling process is shown in Fig. 2.1: Rolling is done both hot and cold. It is accomplishes in rolling mills. A rolling mill is a complex machine having two or more working rollers, supporting rollers, roll stands, drive motor, reducing gear, flywheel, coupling gear etc. Rollers may be plain or grooved depends upon the shape of rolled product.
thermal conditions, every new bar entering the mill creates an impact, ... and sometimes there are really severe rolling accidents, due to faults by operators, weak rolled materials with internal defects, or because of other problems in a mill such as a power cut, mechanical problems of transportation or in the water cooling system.

The hot rolling technology is the most widely used method of shaping metals and is particularly important in the manufacture of steel for use in construction and other industries. In metalworking, rolling is a metal forming process in which metal stock is passed through a pair of rolls. Rolling …
The power factor is at this instant very low. Fig. 4 Depending on their behaviour and power compared with the feeding system fault level, arc furnaces can be regarded as the primary disturbance sources in a network. Through the rapid speed changes in their main drives, rolling mills can disturb a nearby network due to the fluctuation in the ...
Sep 01, 1962· This paper presents a completely new approach to the mechanics of the Sendzimir hot planetary rolling mill. Previous work on this subject, by R. Tovini, included determinations for the distribution of the advance of the strip, the draft, the rolling load, the torque and the horizontal backthrust for the whole range of positions which the planetary rolls made, whilst contacting the hot metal.
Aug 26, 2014· Example: Calculate the rolling load if steel sheet is hot rolled 30% from a 40 mm-thick slab using a 900 mm-diameter roll. The slab is 760 mm wide. Assume μ = 0.30. The plane-strain flow stress is 140 MPa at entrance and 200 MPa at the exit from the roll gap due to the increasing velocity. ... Power is applied to a rolling mill by applying a ...
industries, steel rolling is one of the most energy intensive process steps in steel making after casting which involves reheating and shaping of cast steel into desired forms. Studies conducted in steel rolling industries in Indonesia indicate substantial scope for energy saving and improvements in

DMS OptiMill™ offers first class assistance in mill production and pass schedule operation. The pass schedule view gives access to the main parameters, such as tension, speed, rolling force, mill power, tension reel power, mill torque, neutral coefficient, etc. and guides the operator to make the most efficient operating decisions.
The short time varying load, as occurs in rolling mills, and largely represented by electric arc furnaces (EAFs) with their almost instantaneous fluctuations in both active and reactive power, are the main sources of disturbance. The interconnection point in the grid between the power utility and the steel plant, generally designated
Aug 21, 2016· The video shows the manufacturing process of TMT bars in India.
During manufacturing of heavy strips and plates from difficult-to-form steel grades on sheet and wide-strip rolling mills there is a problem of exact calculation of power parameters of rolling.

This article proposes URC Technology to optimize the mill design from model software calculation, to mill window layout, and even to level-2 optimal set up. It is a combination of software and ...
Multi-pass Hot Rolling of Steels Multi-pass hot rolling is a general practice in the production of plates. An illustration of a plate mill, Fig. 1, is shown below to demonstrate how a series of processes are carried out to produce plates from steel slabs.
is 300 mm, and the rolls rotate at 100 rpm. Calculate the roll force and the power required. For annealed copper, it has a true stress of about 80 Mpa in the unstrained condition and at a true strain of 0.223, true stress is 280 Mpa. FOUR HIGH ROLLING MILL. PROBLEMS AND DEFECTS IN ROLLED ...
